Dear
______________________,
I'm happy to discuss prayer.
Prayer, like meditation, aids us in attaining (and, over time,
maintaining) a constant awareness of Union or Oneness with our
Creator.
We are created with the deep soul desire to communicate with our
Creator. Communication is not a one-sided activity. Prayer and
Meditation are two sides of the same coin. Meditation is the receptive
side of this coin and prayer is the projective side, if that makes
sense. Prayers can be meditations and meditations can be prayers.
They overlap and intertwine because they are both the result of our
Spirit acting on its natural desire to commune with it's Creator.
It is important to remind ourselves of
the truth that the state of connectedness we sometimes feel during
prayer or while in deep states of meditation, that “indescribable
thing,” is our actual reality. It is The Truth of who and what we are: We are all part of God
and God is part of each living thing. As we grow and walk
our individual
Spiritual Path, we become more and more aware of this essential Truth
and we learn more and more about how to live in a constant state of
awareness of this reality while still in our current human forms.
The
feelings we get and experiences we can have when we begin to sense that
Oneness, as in your example of "feeling a joy so
enormous I could not comprehend it or take it all in... I think I yearn
for this feeling, yet my body cannot deal with it," can be incredibly overwhelming for
us as
humans. It can seem as though it's too much for our physical form to
deal with and it is, in one sense. But our Spirits recognize this state
instantly and know exactly how to process the information and
experience.
While you may not have been aware of
it at the time on a conscious level, your Spirit was "at home" during
these times of deep connection to your Creator. These things can seem
incredibly painful to our human awareness in many ways and they can be
confusing at times. One example of this is an intense longing to
be home or a
yearning for the experience to repeat and the feeling of connectedness
remain.
I like your comparison of prayers in
times of need or pain to the howling of a wolf, but, my friend, I have
to tell you, you're wrong.
This sort of prayer is communion
with God above. It is the expression of the human heart aching and
reaching out to Something bigger than itself for help and for comfort. This is natural.
Your Spirit, the part of you that is God within you, knows this Truth
and naturally reaches out to its Whole when its human house is in need
or in pain.
Your human mind, with the programming
of flawed religions, shaming doctrines, misguided pride, wounded ego,
and etc. may feel like this sort of prayer is childlike, weak, or even
naughty somehow, but in truth, you are simply doing what you were
created to do.
You see, these kinds of prayers, the
"yowling ones," are part of the process and program. They feel so good
and we all make them instinctively because this is part of our natural
state. Our Spirits know this even though our conscious human minds may
not and our Spirits will cry out to their Source no matter what our
human minds tell us to do or how they recommend we do it.
I hope this is helpful to you and I thank you for sharing your thoughts
and experiences with me.
As You Journey, I Wish You, Light, Love and Peace,
~ Jordyn
