Dear
______________________,
Thank you for writing.
When developing your abilities,
things like this can be confusing. I always tell my students that the
most important thing to remember is to never compare themselves with
someone else. Each person has their own unique Spiritual gifts and the
manifestations of those gifts are going to be different as well. The
personality, belief system, dominant gift or gifts, and other
circumstances factor into the way psychic information is received and
interpreted. The only thing that will teach you how this works for you
is experience.
Most probably, you are already familiar with your primary psychic gift
or gifts. Let's say that for you it is clairsentience (psychic knowing
and feeling). You have spent your life "just knowing" things. The big
ones will stand out and alert you to the fact that you have uncommon
knowledge but you use this sense on a daily basis and the little things
probably are so commonplace to you that they don't register within your
conscious mind. For example, your clairsentience picks up that your
mother is feeling blue and could use some company. Without even
realizing that you received this information psychically, you order an
extra coffee on your lunch break and decide to surprise your mother.
You may never stop to consider what caused you to order that extra
coffee in the first place. You may never consider it was your Intuition.
Think over the experiences in your life that made you aware of your
psychic gifts and ask yourself which sense is the one you work with the
most. What stands out to you? What do the experiences have in common?
Is it what you see? Is it
what you hear? Is it what you
feel? These questions will
help you to identify your primary psychic gift or gifts (there is
usually one dominant gift but there may be more) and how they work for
you. Once you have identified your primary psychic sense, use this first when trying to obtain
information. Don't expect yourself to "see a Spirit" in the room when
you're first beginning and your main sense is clairsentience. Instead,
you will most likely feel
it. For example, you may sense that the presence is on the left side of
the room and
that it feels feminine. Let
the information come, the way it comes for you, without censoring yourself or
comparing yourself to others. From this point you can begin to ask your
Inner Guidance a series of other questions depending on the setting and
what you're doing in your practice exercises as you develop.
For me, it's a combination of things. When I am engaged in a mediumship
session and about to communicate with a new (to me) Spirit energy, I
usually have a vision of a door opening with a bright white light
behind it. This is how I first know the energy is present and wishes to
communicate. From there I will see a physical image of the person,
hear them speak, and often times feel sensations indicating the manner
in which they crossed over from this life to the next.
Information may come
through any of my psychic senses, a combination of them, or all of them
at once. I have also become sensitive to what "death energy" feels and
looks like and I can literally feel it in my hands during psychometry
readings and when I am in physical contact with certain items and I can
see it in areas where death has taken place. All of these things are my
personal signals and I have learned what they mean and how they work
for me. These things will come for you also. The more you practice and
get to know yourself and your gifts, the more you will understand your
own inner symbolism.
Keep practicing and whenever in doubt, stop, ask your Inner Guidance
for direction, and wait for the answer. It will come.
I hope this has helped you some. Thank you again for your question.
